Alana Hadley is an Exercise Science Major. Alana recently had the opportunity to become a founding member of Kappa Alpha Theta, Theta Omicron Chapter, at UNC Charlotte. Kappa Alpha Theta was founded in 1877 and was the first greek letter fraternity for women. Their motto is “Leading Women” and Alana has positioned herself to do so as the Newly Slated Ritualist for the organization’s 146th chapter. She says, “Becoming a part of Theta has shown me an even bigger network and family of support. It is showing me to be proud of being myself and that no matter where I go I’ll have people who have my back.”
In addition to her membership in Kappa Alpha Theta, Alana is a member and leader in numerous other organizations. As a member of the University Honors Program, she serves as an ambassador and a mentor. Her experience in UHP also led her to begin working for the Honors College where she now works as the Events Intern. Alana is also a integral member of the Charlotte Outdoor Gaming Club, serving as the Treasurer and an Executive Moderator. The combination of these roles, in addition to her membership in Kappa Alpha Theta, have helped Alana build a strong sense of leadership and a dedicated work ethic to the many organizations that she is involved with. These experiences have provided Alana with many opportunities and have helped to convince her that the right path for her future is working in higher education as an advisor and mentor to others.
