Sophie is a Biology major and member of the Forty-Niners Women’s Soccer team. She began her UNC Charlotte soccer career in the fall of 2016 with preseason matchups across the pond in England and Ireland. Playing in 19 out of 22 games in the 2016 season, Sophie helped lead the team to victory as the 2016 Conference USA Champions. Following their victory, they took on Duke University in their first NCAA tournament since 2008. The 2017 season began with Sophie as a starter for each of the six games so far. She looks forward to a strong season after scoring in the fall exhibition game against Georgia State. Off the field, Sophie also excels academically by maintaining a 4.0 GPA and receiving the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal. Her experience being a student athlete has helped her to develop strong time management, organizational, and communication skills. These skills allow her to work closely with her professors to create the flexible study plans that make traveling for tournaments possible. Sophie has also enjoyed the opportunities that UHP has provided for her to get outside of her team and the classroom to meet new people and participate in a diverse set of events. Make sure to support your Forty-Niners Women’s Soccer team as they look to strike gold again this season!
