Who can apply?

The University Honors Program has three possible entry points:

  1. Entering Freshmen: Most of our members apply to the Honors College as high school seniors. This allows students to have a supportive community of like-minded scholars as soon as they begin their time as a 49er. Students graduating from high school through an early college program are still considered entering freshman at UNC Charlotte.

  2. Continuing Freshman and Sophomores: We invite continuing UNC Charlotte students who have earned fewer than 60 credit hours to apply to the Honors College. In order to apply, your current GPA must be at least a 3.4. For those with 60 credits or more, we encourage you to look at the many other honors programs at UNC Charlotte that work with juniors and seniors. You can find more information on these programs at honorscollege.uncc.edu.

  3. Transfer Students: We encourage transfer students with a 3.4 GPA and fewer than 60 credit hours to apply to the Honors College. For those with 60 credit hours or more, we encourage you to look at the many other honors programs at UNC Charlotte that work with juniors and seniors. You can find more information on these programs at honorscollege.uncc.edu.

We invite you to investigate the Honors College and apply to become an Honors Niner! If you would like to discuss your unique situation, call our office at (704) 687-7197.
